New fake antivirus have been reported over this week that is called AV Security essential, this malware will try to trick users as the name is somehow looks like Microsoft Security essential windows based antivirus.
By running the malware it will start to detect some fake viruses, Trojans and key loggers. Next the malware will start to ask victim installing an upgrade in order to clean their machine by inserting the credit card information.
This alert is a fake one and user should never trust this software, to protect your computer against AV Security Essentials and similar malwares it is important to do the following:
- Keep your system and application up to date, if you have an automated update this do not mean that your system is secured you can check your system from time to time with Secunia PSI.
- Always use the low privilege rights on your machine and use the admin account only when they are really required.
- Never use your machine without security software including antivirus and HIPS, make sure you have the latest AV signature and the auto scanning features is enabled.
