TrendMicro security researchers are alerting for another malicious campaign that is targeting whatsApp users. Email message claim to provide a desktop version for windows and Mac for the mobile application WhatsApp. The message includes a url link to download the claimed application.

Any user that will click on the malicious link will download a file that is identified as a TROJ_BANLOAD.YZV. The malware is a banking Trojan that will take sensitive information stored on victims computer, According to Trendmicro the spam numbers is relatively low compared to other type of spam messages but user should be very careful with what type of message they receive.
This new spam is targeting users based in Brazil and the language used is Portuguese. To protect yourself make sure to keep your security software updated and to fix vulnerabilities especially in your web browser. There is still no application for whatsapp that can be installed on desktop so if you receive similar email it is just a scam.
