Security researchers reported a new malicious application that is targeting smartphone devices and called Dendroid. the malware is a remote access toolkit that allows attacker to have a full access on compromised system. Android.Dendoroid application is distributed in the underground market for only 300$.
According to Symantec the rootkit include several advanced features such as:
- Delete call logs
- Call a phone number
- Open Web pages
- Record calls and audio
- Intercept text messages
- Take and upload photos and videos
- Open an application
- Initiate a HTTP flood (DoS) for a period of time
- Change the command-and-control (C&C) server
The list of features indicate that Dendroid is the result of combining several malicious projects. as it includes the DDoS attack, getting the sensitive information and it allows cybercriminals to run the attack against large number of users in the cyberspace. the bad thing that when it comes to phone devices they may contain a very sensitive information as they are always on and connected to your personal life.
