Improve your Data centre performance with Windows Server 2008 R2
Microsoft has provided developer with a full access to the final version of windows server 2008 R2, which has been released in the end of July this year. Subscribers at the MSDN and TechNet are able to download this release while this version will be available in the market on 22nd of Octobre.
Windows Server 2008 R2 is the server edition of windows 7 in which there is a huge number of improvements in the scalability, performance and bunch of new features. Virtualization is one of the main key improvements in this OS which was originally called Windows 7 Server.
This Operating System comes with the Hyper-V 2.0 that enables virtual machines migration between physical servers without stopping the system. this functionality is very useful in solving load balancing and server maintenance problem.
Hyper-V also allows users to upload both physical and virtual machines from VHD as well as adding or removing data store devices on the working virtual machines.
Server 2008 supports 64 processors on one system in the Hyper-V and up to 384 virtual machines, working simultaneously on a single physical host. There are also improvements in the environmental performance with Core Parking that helps to reduce the power consumption of a core.
