Snapchat Photos Hacked over Third party application
Snapchat database with more then 100 million users pictures and videos have been published by hackers. still not known the way that hackers have compromised the database but the first analyses shows that the leak was due to a third party application. pictures and videos are going to be hosted on 4Chan this is the site where usually attacker upload hacked files and folders.
According to twitter official account “Snapchatters were victimized by their use of third-party apps to send and receive Snaps, a practice that we expressly prohibit in our ToU. We can confirm that Snapchat’s servers were never breached and were not the source of these leaks.”
The Business Insider alerted that the service that were vulnerable to hacker is SnapSaved.com which is a web client that can be used with snapchat to receive videos and pictures to save them online. keeping a copy on this service have exposed users information and made them available for hackers.
If you use any online service be sure to read the agreement license to see if there are any privacy or security issue. Do not use third party applications before making sure that they are certified and have all security requirement to guarantee users security. never share your sensitive information online and use different login/password for each online resource. the compromised data is about 13GB library of Snapchats.
